Clear weather and a gentle breeze. The conditions couldn’t be moreperfect for a two-day team building exercise by the seaside. Everyone from Glodom Shenzhen was filled with excitement for the journey up ahead.
Early in the morning, everyone gathered at the meeting point andlined up to get on the bus heading to the destination. For the past two years, ouremployees have had few chances to get together due to the epidemic. As aresult, we even did not know the names of some new colleagues. However, thisquickly changed once we sat down and got to talking. Before long, we had begunto feel a sense of comradery amongst ourselves.
We soon arrived at our first stop: Delta Island, the first privateisland with legal property rights in China. Known as the "Maldives of China", it covers an area of 16 hectares and is renowned in the SouthChina Sea for its crystal-clear waters, unique rock formations and white sandbeaches. We had been looking forward to seeing the island for some time, andonce we saw the breathtaking scenery with our own eyes, it was clear that itdeserved its sterling reputation. The clear waters, blue skies, and picturesquebeaches were straight out of a travel catalogue, and everyone was in awe. Manypeople couldn't wait to take off their shoes and socks to feel the sand betweentheir toes. Others passed the time with various beach games, all while soakingin the beautiful island views and warm winter sunshine. All of the games helpedput everyone at ease and allowed us all to become more familiar with eachother.
The real highlight of the day came in the evening: Beach BBQ.Everyone gathered around the barbecue table and worked together to make abountiful feast. Some prepared the ingredients while others cooked the kebabs toperfection. With the sea breeze to our backs, we all rejoiced, sang, atebarbecue, and toasted to friendship and good times.
The next day, after taking in more ocean scenery, we went to a differentlocation for a picnic. It was full of challenges, and was a tough task for allof us. However, all of Glodom’s employees put their minds together and quicklygot to work. We divided everyone into three groups, each of whom wasresponsible for their own lunch. This outing revealed the fact that our companyis home to many ingenious individuals. Some collected firewood, some madefires, some washed dishes, some cut vegetables, and some cooked the dishes... Soona table of food lay before us. It was a sumptuous meal, made all the moredelicious by the fact we had cooked it ourselves through teamwork.
We returned to Shenzhen in the afternoon, thus bringing our tour toa close. In those two days, we experienced a life time of happy memories, andreturned with new friendships and a new understanding of one another.
